Our Mission

1.   To promote, support, facilitate, coordinate or undertake activities that will enhance the well-being and character of the Broadmead community, including but not limited to:

(a)  providing a forum for dialogue on community matters;

(b)  maintaining the character of Broadmead based on its harmony with the natural environment;

(c)  safeguarding green space, parks, and trails within the community;

(d)  addressing traffic issues in the community, including volume, speed, congestion, parking and safety; and

(e)  interacting on behalf of residents with the District of Saanich and other appropriate government or jurisdictional authorities with respect to current and future requirements of the community.

2.   To manage the restrictive covenants registered against properties in Broadmead.

Membership

The first and most important reason for joining BARA is to have a voice in the affairs of the community. BARA provides a forum for dialogue on community matters through its meetings and other means. Membership also supports community activities which make Broadmead an attractive and preferred place to live, and helps strengthen our association in its many dealing with municipal and other authorities.

All households of Broadmead are eligible for membership and are encouraged to join. Please click here for a membership/renewal form:

Meetings

Directors meetings are normally held on the third Tuesday of each month. An Annual General Meeting is held in April of each year. Minutes of meetings are available to BARA members on request through info@broadmead.ca.

The BARA Bugle / Electronic Newsletter

Two thousand copies of the Bugle are distributed to all area households and businesses twice annually, usually in November and April, by a group of volunteer carriers. And our Electronic Newsletter is published in the intervening months to ensure a steady flow of news to our residents. Both publications update the community on local issues and provide information about BARA meetings and activities. Copies of the recent editions of the Bugle and the Electronic Newsletter may be accessed through the links on our Home page.

Welcome Package

BARA has a Welcome Package which we distribute to every new homeowner in Broadmead. If you are new to the area or have noticed a SOLD sign on a home near you, please email us or give us a call so we can deliver a welcome package. Information for newcomers is also available on our Newcomers page.

The Broadmead Story

The Broadmead Story is an illustrated booklet about the community produced in 2001. It relates the history of the area, beginning in 1852 through to the building of the first homes in Broadmead. A copy of this attractively illustrated 18-page booklet is provided as a membership bonus to all paid BARA members.
